thehumanunit.com is a methodology of problem solving based on the naturally-selected Homo sapiens' social group size expressed in the 300,000 yrs of our species' existence Mission - to solve problems for the greater good As Jonas Salk MD said: I now see that the major shift in human evolution is from: behaving like an animal struggling to survive to: behaving like an animal choosing to evolve In fact, in order to survive, man has to evolve, and to evolve we need a new kind of thinking and a new kind of behavior, a new ethic, and a new morality. It will be the evolution of everyone not survival of the fittest We are thinking that the natural selection of social behavior over the 300,000 yrs of Homo sapiens existence would be a good place to start getting cooperation of humans to the greater good of all. That naturally selected system was 50-150 people in a group. 100 being the most common size. With the evolution of the human brain, in Homo sapiens, both the right and left Prefrontal Cortex enlarged. This brain upgrade allowed a new social group size to function and over the 200,000 yrs in East Africa it worked out to be about 100 people. It allowed cooperation of a greater number of people than any hominid species ever before and the focus of many bigger brains on a problem. This led to a steady path of domination of the planet. This was researched in an article in a 2015 Scientific American magazine, “How We Conquered the Planet, Our Species Wielded the Ultimate Weapon: "Cooperation"” How we conquered the planet The population grew and Homo sapiens migrated out of Africa to the Middle East and the southern part of Asia (not under a glacier). Lastly, as the glaciers melted land bridges were drowned and the glaciers of Eurasia receded allowing migration north. People were pretty much where their gene pool would exist by 40,000 yrs ago. Within their gene pool territory there would have been groups of 100 that all were solving the problems of that territory - sharing their solutions in occasional groups' meeting. Climate change in Africa - led to many Homo species but ultimately 300,000 yrs ago to Homo sapiens evolving Climate change 11,000 yrs ago changed Homo sapiens from hunter/gatherer/fisher peoples to hunter/gatherer/fisher/farmers This led to villages in limited locations Then for the last 7,000 yrs we have had civilization with religion and politics By solving problems we intend to address the concept of the Evolution of Everyone By solving problems we intend to consciously decide to create a less stressful society and thereby decrease the chronic diseases that are stress related and deaths caused by hardship. By decreasing desperation we decrease violence. It is ironic that it was 'civilization' that led to the first war. We believe in the wisdom of moderation, in treating others the way you want to be treated, and putting the children first.
